About the Course
Hawaiians call their dance "Hula". There are two categories of the Hawaiian dance, Kahiko Auwana. This class covers only the Auwana that interprets songs through dance. This class starts with stretch warm-up followed by the Hula basics exercise. Choreography will be slowly introduced to students. Questions by students are always welcome. Lyrics and songs will be emailed to students.

Celina Hall has been sharing her passion for Polynesian dance since the age of 11, specializing in Hula Auwana, Hula Kahiko, Tahitian, Maori, and Poi Ball styles. She has competed both solo and in groups in Hawaii and locally, and represented her class at the Ia ‘Oe Ka La Competition. Celina brings decades of experience to her teaching, including work at Alvarado Adult School, Berkeley Adult School, and Lafayette Community Center. She continues to expand her skills in Hawaiian language, ukulele, and piano, and values clear communication, reliability, and high standards in all she undertakes.
