Deaf Interpreter (Sign language I)

This is an introduction course in American Sign Language (sign language). Each individual learns at their own pace. This class teaches the basics of hand position, signing space, ABC's, first 100 plus vocabulary words learned in signing. ASL I (sign language) presents the tools and knowledge necessary to respond to simple questions and have a basic conversation in sign language. Level I can be repeated if the skills necessary to move on the next level are not achieved.

An additional $10 textbook fee is attached to this class.  The textbook can also be used in Sign Language II.

Additional Information:

The purchased textbook can be picked up during normal business hours (Mondays-Thursdays; 9am-5pm, and Fridays; 8am-4pm) at the Alvarado Campus.
