West Contra Costa, in partnership with CalRegional offers affordable healthcare career training programs in the Richmond area. Classes run year round and have helped hundreds of students get medical training necessary to be successful in the field.
Health Training Information Session
Learn about our upcoming healthcare training programs at our live, online meeting. Get your questions answered in a relaxed, informal setting. Class registration available after the presentation.

CPR $45
This course combines lectures, demonstrations and video with hands-on training. Participants will learn:
- To recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac arrest and breathing emergencies.
- To respond to emergencies for adults, children and infants
- Heat and cold emergencies
- Sudden illness and poisonings.
This course meets the requirements established by state childcare licensing
(EMSA), bus drivers (EMSA), clear credentials, healthcare and a wide variety of professional, state and federal agencies. Students must be able to read and understand English to take this course. Certification is awarded upon successfully passing skills and written exam.

Basic
First Aid $29
This course is designed for those who desire or are required to be certified in First Aid and the steps to take in evaluating victims' needs. Members of this class will manage bleeding control, shock, learn to describe and react to burns, spinal injuries, severe allergic reactions, poisoning, diabetes and seizures, etc. Certification is awarded upon successfully passing skills and written exam.
*Must be able to read and understand English.
$3 extra for EMSA (pediatric) sticker if needed or required for card. Students who need recertification may come to class anytime between 1:30pm-2:30pm. Recertification fee is $20. Must bring current certification card at time of registration and to class.

Billing & Coding Specialist

Clinical Medical Assistant Program
Certified clinical medical assistants are multi-skilled allied healthcare professionals who perform clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a physician or other licensed healthcare provider. Medical assistants work in various healthcare settings, including clinics, physicians’ offices, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.

Phlebotomy
Certified phlebotomy technicians are trained professionals who collect blood and other patient specimens for laboratory testing and analysis. They play a vital role in healthcare, ensuring accurate lab results that support diagnosis and treatment. Phlebotomists commonly work in hospitals, clinics, diagnostic labs, doctor’s offices, and other medical facilities.
