Advanced Automation Controls

Welcome to Manufacturing Technology. This class is for students that want to become an Automation Technician/Engineer. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing automated industrial computer controlled systems. Learn different programming skills related to Robotic Automation, PLC’s and HMI’s. Understand electrical and electronic principles in this trade. We also teach you industrial communication protocols. Learn for the future in this demanding field.

Gain hands-on training in the principles and theory of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Learn soldering, brazing, and refrigerant recovery techniques while testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting systems such as split units, heat pumps, chillers, and ventilation systems. This course also prepares students for EPA Type I, II, III, and Universal certifications, discussed during the first session.

Learn essential home maintenance skills for small projects around the house. Students will practice using tools, repairing plumbing leaks, patching walls, installing minor electrical fixtures, and more. Gain hands-on experience with all tools and supplies provided.

Math for Trades

Instructor: Michelle Cascio | Location: Richmond High School

This course is designed to prepare students to pass local union apprenticeship exams. It will cover the specific math concepts found on the test as well as the test-taking strategies to help students succeed. Students build a strong theoretical foundation and strengthen math skill sets in their specific field of trade.

Stationary Engineering Training

Instructor: Steve Bartoni | Location: El Cerrito High School

Start a career as a Stationary Engineer (Local 39) with hands-on training in operating and managing systems in high-rise buildings, hospitals, hotels, and more. Learn to operate boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, ventilation, electrical distribution, fire safety systems, and water treatment, as well as welding and fabrication skills. The course also prepares students for EPA Type I, II, III, and Universal certifications, discussed in the first session.
