Quilt Blocks 101 and 102

Price

$109

Duration

8 weeks

Course Description

First-time students will learn to construct 3 basic quilt blocks (log cabin, half-square triangles, and 9-patch). Continuing students will learn to construct Pinwheel blocks and Friendship Star blocks and will spend more time on their projects (designing and calculating fabric requirements). First time students will learn to use rotary cutters and self-healing mats while brushing up on machine sewing skills as needed. We will play with colors and fabrics, selecting one of the block types to design and create quilt tops for items such as placemats, table runners, wall hangings, or pillow covers. Students will learn how to add sashing around blocks and/or borders to their tops. Sewing machines, rotary cutters and mats are provided (you may bring your own). Basic/beginning machine sewing skills helpful but not required.
