About the Course

This course is designed for beginners in learning Sign Language. It is a visual-gestural language created by Deaf people. The course requires memorization, learning to communicate what you are saying through expressive and receptive expressions, non-verbal modalities, and visual listening skills. This class is the first step for those who wish to communicate with the deaf and for those thinking of working with the deaf. Class participation is necessary. There will be 2 presentations. Course is taught in sign and at times spoken word.

An additional $10 textbook fee is attached to this class.  The textbook can also be used in Sign Language II.

The purchased textbook can be picked up during normal business hours

(Mondays-Thursdays; 9am-5pm, and Fridays; 8am-4pm) at the Alvarado Campus.
