Apolonio Valdovinos
For the past 12 years, Mr. Valdovinos has designed and taught technology programs for adult learners, most recently at the Richmond Public Library. Previously, he volunteered with WCCUSD, where he trained high school continuation students in digital media. These students were later hired by another school district to train teachers on using video in the classroom. As an adult learner himself, Mr. Valdovinos graduated from UC Berkeley at 37. His thesis focused on the positive impact of training employees in new technologies on career mobility and company success.
Mr. Valdovinos's journey with technology began before Microsoft Office existed, when he used his first computer at work. Since then, he has been dedicated to helping companies adopt new technologies—from email and Google Docs to AI. As a teacher, his goal is to empower people from all backgrounds to use technology to improve their lives. One of his most rewarding experiences has been teaching newly arrived immigrants to use ChatGPT to navigate new systems.
